We've had the opportunity to guide some fascinating people around
the state of California. Here are a few of their stories.
The Tecklenburgs: One for the Ages: Their Trip | Letter from Eunice
Jimmy and Eunice Tecklenburg were our very first clients. They visited
California at a time when we were still operating our California
vacation planning business, but before we had ever actually enjoyed
the experience of showing a client the great things in our state
in person. The story of how they went from vacation planning clients
to one of our most treasured memories, and the impetus for an entirely
new direction for our business is one I love to relate.
The Tecklenburgs came to California both to see its natural beauty,
and also to explore the possibilities of buying a farm in the United
States. We started their trip as consultants. When I was adopted
as their tour guide, the adventure began. We began the trip in the
Bay Area, and eventually led them through Monterey, San Francisco
and up the entirety of the Redwood Coast, to the Trinity Alps, before
traveling down through the fertile farmland of California's Central
Valley. Lake Tahoe, the ghost town of Bodie, Yosemite and Death
Valley ultimately led to Las Vegas and beyond.
The Jenkins Family Their Trip | Letter from the Gary
As part of a larger holiday for the Jenkins family, we took Gary,
Stella; their 3 charming daughters, Rhiannon, Cerys and Megan; and
Stella's parents Brian and Sheila, on a 6-day trip, starting in
San Francisco, and ending in San Diego. En route, we spent time
in Yosemite National Park, the Monterey Peninsula, Big Sur, San
Simeon, Solvang, and Los Angeles.
The Ridgard Family
Their Trip | Letter from Paul and Gina
The Ridgards approached their California holiday without knowing quite what to expect. Until their trip, their holidays had been exclusively of the package Spanish beach hotel variety. Given a large amount of leeway to design a tour that offered them a bit of everything, and 3 weeks in which to do it, we designed a trip that spanned the length of the state, both geographically and experientially.
Bruton Parish Episcopal Church Youth Group
Their Trip | Letter from Leslie
The youth program at the Bruton Parish Episcopal Churgh in Williamsburg,
Virginia sponsors a trip each year called "Journey to Adulthood" . For their 2006 trip, we focused on the historic missions of California,
venturing off into other explorations (Hearst Castle, whale watching,
the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood) as it made sense to their youth
coordinator and pastor.
